About us
Parent Councils UK works to support parent voice in education. We provide advice, training and support for senior leaders, teachers, family support workers, governors, local authority advisers and parents to equip them with the skills needed to build successful school/home relationships.
Through the development of Parent Councils and Forums and other ways of involving parents, we support schools and parents to work together to get the best outcomes for all children. Parent Councils UK was founded in 2008 by Fiona Carnie, Parent Partnerships Expert, educationalist and writer. She led a government funded project on setting up parent councils and has extensive experience of parental engagement strategies. Fiona has worked with schools, local authorities and organisations across the UK and further afield to develop more participative approaches. She is also an adviser to the European Forum for Freedom in Education based in Germany.
